This year's tournament was held on Sunday 6 September with predictions of bad weather the rain held off to give us a fine day. Again this year saw 24 teams enter with a further 6 on the waiting list A great days netball saw a very close final between Bournville 1 and Ryland Seniors with Ryland Seniors scoring in the final seconds of extra- time and winning 14-13.
The Lyn Cain Plate was won by Sparkhill, who triumphed against Bournville 3.
“The Joan Annie Lacey Trophy” for the player of the tournament as voted for by umpires was won by Becky Taylor of Bournville 2.
As a result of the excellent support we receive every year we raised a fantastic £3,500 for Cancer Research UK bringing our total fundraising through the Lyn Cain Trophy since 1995 to £44,250. A fantastic achievement particularly in todays economic climate!! Lyn's parents again came up to present the cheque to Professor Keith Wheatley, Deputy Director of the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit.
